Restylane is the most popular Dermal Filler in our Madison and Appleton WI offices.  Approved by the FDA in early 2004, Restylane^® was the first dermal filler made of non-animal-based Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring substance that binds water to cells.  Hyaluronic Acid is already present in the human body, providing moisture and fullness to the skin; therefore, Restylane^® does not require an allergy test prior to receiving treatment. Restylane^® creates volume under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out.

Restylane^® is used most commonly to fill frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet (BOTOX^® treatment is recommended at the same time when treating either of these areas), nasal labial folds (line that extends between the base of the nose and the corner of your mouth), and to add shape and volume to the lips.

Perlane^®, another non-animal-based Hyaluronic Acid dermal filler manufactured by the same company as Restylane^®, is used to restore volume and fullness to moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Perlane^® is used for deeper injections than that of Restylane^®.

The average treatment with either of these products takes about 30 minutes. However, this may vary depending on the amount or type of correction you are seeking. Although most clients find the injections to be relatively painless, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment. Results can be seen immediately following treatment and last approximately 6 months or more.

The latest dermal filler advance from Allergan Inc., the manufacturer of BOTOX^® Cosmetic, Juvéderm^® is a smooth gel, non-animal-based Hyaluronic Acid dermal filler offering a natural look and feel to the face. Two formulas of Juvéderm^®  are available to treat fine lines and wrinkles, the shape and volume of lips, or deeper folds and wrinkles.

The average treatment with either of these products takes about 30 minutes.  However, this may vary depending on the amount or type of correction you are seeking.  Although most clients find the injections to be relatively painless, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment.  Results can be seen immediately following treatment. Radiesse^® is a synthetic dermal filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body's natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres of calcium hydroxyl apatite, Radiesse^® is made from the same minerals found in our bones, so it carries no risk of allergic reaction. Radiesse^® is most effectively used to treat the nasolabial folds (line that extends between the base of the nose and the corner of your mouth), peri-oral lines (around the mouth), depressed scars and oral commissures (downward from the corners of your mouth).

Treatments typically take 15-30 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. When injected, the cream-like texture of Radiesse^® feels soft and natural and results are visible immediately after the injection. It is gradually replaced by the body’s own tissue, and slowly dissolves. The results may last approximately 1 year.

Sculptra™ is a synthetic injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Sculptra is composed of a material known as "poly-L-lactic acid." Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). Poly-L-lactic acid has been widely used for many years in surgical products, such as dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants.

Sculptra™ provides an increase in skin thickness, helping to create a more natural facial appearance in those with facial lipoatrophy (localized loss of fat tissue).  Sculptra™ will not correct the underlying cause of the facial fat loss, but will help improve the appearance by increasing skin thickness in the treated areas.

Sculptra™ is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss, providing a gradual increase in skin thickness.  The appropriate number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra™you will need will be determined at each session.  Some clients may require 3 to 6 treatment sessions with visible results beginning to appear within the first few treatment sessions.  Treatment results differ for each person, but most can benefit from the results for up to 2 years after the first treatment session.  Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
