Restylane Family of Products:

Restylane Defyne | RestylaneL | Restylane Lyft | Restylane Silk | Restylane Refyne

Treatments in Wisconsin

At AestheticA Skin Health Center we offer Restylane Defyne®, RestylaneL® Restylane Lyft®, Restylane Silk® and Restylane Refyne®. Each Restylane product is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to visibly reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds or add fullness to your lips.

Restylane

WHAT CAN RESTYLANE DO FOR ME?

Restylane is one of the most popular dermal fillers in our Madison and Appleton, Wisconsin offices. Restylane creates volume under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out, or can add volume to your lips. Approved by the FDA in early 2004, Restylane was the first dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that binds water to cells.  Hyaluronic acid is already present in the human body, providing moisture and fullness to the skin; therefore, Restylane does not require an allergy test prior to receiving treatment.

ARE YOU A CANDIDATE FOR RESTYLANE?

If you are concerned with frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet, nasal labial folds or would like to add shape and volume to the lips, Restylane may be a treatment for you. Both men and women may be candidates for a Restylane treatment.

    • Fill marionette lines

RESTYLANE TREATMENT

Restylane is injected into the skin to fill lips, wrinkles or folds. Restylane products are formulated with lidocaine, a local anesthetic that improves comfort in the area of treatment. The average treatment with Restylane takes about 30 minutes and you may be in-office about 45-60 minutes. However, this may vary depending on the amount or type of correction you are seeking. Although most clients find the injections to be relatively painless, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment. Results can be seen immediately following treatment and last approximately 6-9 months.

Restylane Silk

WHAT IS RESTYLANE SILK?

Restylane® Silk is the newest addition to the Restylane family of products, receiving its FDA approval in 2014. Restylane Silk is the first and only FDA approved product specifically designed for subtle lip enhancement and the smoothing of wrinkles and lines around the mouth. Restylane Silk has been approved in other countries like Canada and Europe for many years.

Just like other Restylane products, Restylane Silk is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid. As you get older, your lips and skin around the mouth show signs of aging resulting in thinning of the lips, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines around the lip. Made with smaller, smoother particles than Restylane, Restylane Silk provides natural-looking results with subtle enhancement to the lips and fine lines around the lips. Dr. Parfitt was one of the first offices in the Madison, WI and Appleton, WI areas to offer Restylane Silk.

RESTYLANE SILK TREATMENT

Restylane Silk is injected superficially with an ultra fine needle designed for improved accuracy and more precise results. The in-office treatment time can average around 60 minutes. However, this may vary depending on the amount or type of correction you are seeking. Although most clients find the injections to be relatively painless, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment. Results can be seen immediately following treatment and last approximately 6 months or more.

Restylane Lyft

WHAT IS RESTYLANE LYFT?

Formerly known as Perlane, Restylane® Lyft is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to treat wrinkles and correct volume loss in the face. Restylane Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved filler indicated to provide fullness to cheeks and add volume to correct and smooth smile lines (nasolabial folds). Restylane Lyft is a nonsurgical option to help restore cheek fullness. Restylane Lyft is a larger molecule formulation and is used for deeper injections than that of Restylane. Restylane Lyft is less versatile than the Restylane products.

FAQs ON RESTYLANE PRODUCTS :

How long do Restylane treatments take?

The average treatment with either of these products takes about 30 minutes.

Although most clients find the injections to be relatively painless, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment, which may add to your time in clinic.

When should I plan treatment for ideal results?

It is recommended that you receive treatment 2-4 weeks before you want/need the results for a specific event on your calendar.

Are Restylane injections painful?

Restylane Defyne, RestylaneL, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk and Restylane Refyne products contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that improves comfort in the area of treatment. A topical anesthetic may also be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment, essentially creating a pain-free treatment. If you are allergic to lidocaine, we offer products that do not contain lidocaine.

Will I bruise post treatment?

Patients taking medications with anticoagulant effects, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, and Celebrex or high doses of certain herbs such as gingko, vitamin E, garlic or ginseng may have an increased risk of bleeding or bruising. If possible, it is advised to discontinue these medications two weeks prior to treatment. If you can’t, the procedure can still be done, but with higher risk of bruising.

Can I combine Restylane injectable filler products with Dysport or Botox?

Dysport treatment, or any other neurotoxin treatment, can be combined with injectable fillers at the same appointment. Using both products helps most clients achieve their ideal result and may provide longer-lasting results.

What are my options if I am allergic to lidocaine?

Products that do not contain lidocaine are available at AestheticA Skin Health Center. Allergies will be noted during your initial consultation.

I want natural-looking results, what can I do to not look over done?

During your initial consultation, one of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists will discuss your goals and recommend specific treatment options. It is our goal to provide a natural-looking, youthful result.

Is there a cost for a consultation?

To see one of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists, the cost for a skin consultation is $50. To see Dr. Parfitt, the cost for your skin consultation is $125. This consultation fee is applied to your account to use towards products or treatments at either AestheticA Skin Health Center or Parfitt Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center. This one-time cost applies only to your initial consultation; therefore all future follow-up consultative appointments, regardless of the provider seen, are free.

TREATMENT GUIDELINES

PRE TREATMENT
  • Patients predisposed to developing cold sores should start on 500mg of Valtrex twice daily at least 2 days before treatment. A 7 day course of therapy is recommended (2 days prior and 5 days following filler).
  • Patients taking medications with anticoagulant effects, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, and Celebrex or high doses of certain herbs such as gingko, vitamin E, garlic or ginseng may have an increased risk of bleeding or bruising. If possible, it is advised to discontinue these medications two weeks prior to treatment. If you can’t, the procedure can still be done, but with higher risk of bruising.
POST TREATMENT
  • There may be slight to moderate swelling and redness in the injected area for 24-48 hours. Avoid applying immediate pressure and excessive movements to the treated area, unless instructed to do so.
  • Apply a cool compress to treated area/s as this may help to reduce swelling and potential for bruising.
  • Tylenol may be taken for any discomfort and cold compresses may be lightly applied to reduce swelling.
  • It is normal to feel some “tenderness” immediately following the treatment that may last for a few hours up to a few days and some “firmness” in your treated area/s. Over, time the areas will soften and “settle” leaving a natural look.
  • There is a small potential for the filler to not disperse evenly and form a small “nodule”. Typically a nodule cannot be seen but you may be able to feel it. If this occurs and is bothersome, please call our office to book a follow up appointment. The nodule may be a lingering bruise not requiring treatment, however if a true nodule has formed we may be able to evenly disperse the product.

Please call our office with any questions or concerns 608.831.4007.
