Can I combine Juvéderm and Botox treatments?

How long does Juvéderm XC last?
What are my options if I am allergic to lidocaine?
When should I plan treatment for ideal results?
Will I bruise post treatment?
Bruising will vary. Following some treatments, it may not occur at all. If it does, the bruise(s) can last 3-10 days. You can reduce risks of bruising and swelling if you do not take any Tylenol or Ibuprofen for at least 72 hours prior to treatment.
Patients taking medications with anticoagulant effects on a regular basis, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, and Celebrex or high doses of certain herbs such as gingko, vitamin E, garlic or ginseng may have an increased risk of bleeding or bruising. If possible, it is advised to discontinue these medications two weeks prior to treatment. If you can’t, the procedure can still be done, but with higher risk of bruising.

Treatment Guidelines
Pre Treatment
- Patients predisposed to developing cold sores should start on 500mg of Valtrex twice daily at least two days before treatment. A seven day course of therapy is recommended (two days prior and five days following filler).

Post Treatment
- Avoid applying immediate pressure and excessive movements to the treated area, unless instructed to do so.
- Apply a cool compress to treated area(s) as this may help to reduce swelling and potential for bruising.
- Tylenol may be taken for any discomfort and cold compresses may be lightly applied to reduce swelling.
- It is normal to feel some “tenderness” immediately following the treatment that may last for a few hours up to a few days and some “firmness” in your treated area(s). Over time, the areas will soften and “settle” leaving a natural look.
- There is a small potential for the filler to not disperse evenly and form a small “nodule”. Typically a nodule cannot be seen, but you may be able to feel it. If this occurs and is bothersome, please call our office to book a follow up appointment. The nodule may be a lingering bruise; however, if a true nodule has formed, we may be able to evenly disperse the product.
