Microneedling

Microneedling Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

A QUICK, MINIMALLY INVASIVE TREATMENT

The concept of Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is based on the skin’s ability to repair itself after it encounters physical damage. The treatment creates thousands of micro injuries in the skin with the use of very precise, sterile needles. This controlled injury to the skin triggers new collagen synthesis, resulting in smoother, firmer and younger looking skin, as well as less apparent scars and stretchmarks.

MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT

This minimally invasive procedure involves the production of thousands of controlled microscopic needle incisions, puncturing the stratum corneum (outermost layer of the skin) to induce a controlled injury response within tissue through a physical and mechanical mechanism. Microneedling has been shown to be an effective and highly satisfactory treatment for a range of indications, to include:

Acne scars

Traumatic scars

Lines and wrinkles

Epidermal pigments

Stretch marks

Burn wounds

The results of this treatment can be further enhanced by receiving a 15% Trichloracetic Acid Peel (TCA) immediately after Microneedling.

Multiple treatments are recommended to achieve the best results. A typical course of treatment is one appointment every 3-4 weeks for 4-6 months. You can expect to then continue to see results for up to 6-8 months as your skin produces new collagen.

YOUR CONSULTATION

Your skin requires a tailored program of care to optimize its health and appearance. At your consultation, one of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists will gather information from you about your skin concerns, examine your skin and explain what they discover. They will help you prioritize and achieve your best skin by preparing a treatment plan that ensures any skin treatments you choose are provided in a manner that is as effective and as safe as possible. Our Medical Aesthetics Specialists have trained under Double-Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Richard Parfitt. Their extensive knowledge of non-surgical procedures, skin care and skin rejuvenation treatments ensures they are skilled skin-care specialists in your chosen treatment. Consultations can take place at either of our locations in Appleton, WI or Middleton, WI.

If you are a new client of AestheticA Skin Health Center and are interested in a specific treatment, time may be allotted for the consultation and treatment to be completed in one appointment. If you are a previous client of AestheticA, but have not been seen by our clinic within a year, a brief follow-up from your last treatment will be scheduled to discuss your previous treatment, or any new skin concerns in addition to your scheduled treatment.

FAQs ON MICRONEEDLING:

When can I resume wearing makeup after my treatment?

You can return to your regular makeup application after 2-3 days, at which point your skin will appear almost normal. You much also continue to use a high factor sunscreen and any topical products specifically recommended by your provider. Your provider will discuss with you camouflage makeup suitable for use immediately following treatment or any other concerns you may have about returning to your routine makeup regimen.

Is micro needling painful?

Prior to treatment, a topical anesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area. This anesthetic cream numbs the skin, making the treatment very comfortable. You may experience some sensitivity, particularly when treatment is performed around the eyes.

How long is the microneedling treatment?

The average treatment is 45-60 minutes.

Can I combine skin care products and micro needling?

Yes, topical skin care is highly recommended to enhance your treatment results and to improve the overall health and appearance of your skin. One of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists will discuss the use of products throughout the course of these treatments.

Is there a cost for a consultation?

To see one of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists, the cost for a skin consultation is $50. To see Dr. Parfitt, the cost for your skin consultation is $125. This consultation fee is applied to your account to use towards products or treatments at either AestheticA Skin Health Center or Parfitt Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center. This one-time cost applies only to your initial consultation; therefore all future follow-up consultative appointments, regardless of the provider seen, are free.

At least 2 weeks prior to each treatment:

  • Daily, routine sun exposure should be minimal to none prior to any treatment.
  • Continue to apply a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) SPF 35+ sunscreen on a daily basis and whenever exposed to the sun.

  • Your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or tanning products from the treatment area(s).

Post-treatment Instructions:

  • Typical side effects from the treatment include redness (comparable to moderate sunburn), some swelling and some minor pin point bleeding. These side effects usually lessen 48-72 hours after the treatment.

  • Please notify your provider if any side effects become worse or are unanticipated as soon as I am aware of them.
