Restylane FAQs and Treatment Guidelines

Restylane Treatments in Wisconsin

FAQs ON RESTYLANE PRODUCTS :

How long do Restylane treatments take?

The average treatment with any of these products takes about 30 minutes.

Although most clients find the injections to be relatively painless, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment, which may add to your time in clinic.

When should I plan treatment for ideal results?

It is recommended that you receive treatment 2-4 weeks before you want/need the results for a specific event on your calendar.

Are Restylane injections painful?

Restylane Defyne, RestylaneL, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk and Restylane Refyne products contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that improves comfort in the area of treatment. A topical anesthetic may also be applied to the area prior to receiving your treatment, essentially creating a pain-free treatment. If you are allergic to lidocaine, we offer products that do not contain lidocaine.

Will I bruise post treatment?

Bruising will vary. During some treatments, it may not occur at all. If it does, the bruise(s) can last 3-10 days. You can reduce risks of bruising and swelling if you do not take any Tylenol or Ibuprofen for at least 72 hours prior to treatment.

Patients taking medications with anticoagulant effects on a regular basis, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, and Celebrex or high doses of certain herbs such as gingko, vitamin E, garlic or ginseng may have an increased risk of bleeding or bruising. If possible, it is advised to discontinue these medications two weeks prior to treatment. If you can’t, the procedure can still be done, but with higher risk of bruising.

Can I combine Restylane injectable filler products with Dysport, Botox or Jeuveau?

Any neurotoxin (Dysport, Botox or Jeuveau) treatment, can be combined with injectable fillers during the same appointment. Using both products helps most clients achieve their ideal result and may provide longer-lasting results.

What are my options if I am allergic to lidocaine?

Dermal filler formulated without lidocaine is available at AestheticA Skin Health Center. Allergies will be noted during your initial consultation.

I want natural-looking results, what can I do to not look over done?

During your initial consultation, one of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists will discuss your goals and recommend specific treatment options. It is our goal to provide a natural-looking, youthful result.

Is there a cost for a consultation?

To see one of our Medical Aesthetics Specialists, the cost for a skin consultation is $50. To see Dr. Parfitt, the cost for your skin consultation is $125. This consultation fee is applied to your account to use towards products or treatments at either AestheticA Skin Health Center or Parfitt Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center. This one-time cost applies only to your initial consultation; therefore all future follow-up consultative appointments, regardless of the provider seen, are free.

Where can I have a consultation for Restylane injectable fillers?

TREATMENT GUIDELINES

PRE TREATMENT
  • Patients predisposed to developing cold sores should start on 500mg of Valtrex twice daily at least two days before treatment. A seven day course of therapy is recommended (two days prior and five days following filler).
  • You can reduce risks of bruising and swelling if you do not take any Tylenol or Ibuprofen for at least 72 hours prior to treatment.
  • Patients taking medications with anticoagulant effects on a regular basis, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, and Celebrex or high doses of certain herbs such as gingko, vitamin E, garlic or ginseng may have an increased risk of bleeding or bruising. If possible, it is advised to discontinue these medications two weeks prior to treatment. If you can’t, the procedure can still be done, but with higher risk of bruising.
POST TREATMENT
  • Avoid applying immediate pressure and excessive movements to the treated area, unless instructed to do so.
  • Apply a cool compress to treated area(s) as this may help to reduce swelling and potential for bruising.
  • Tylenol may be taken for any discomfort and cold compresses may be lightly applied to reduce swelling.
  • It is normal to feel some “tenderness” immediately following the treatment that may last for a few hours up to a few days and some “firmness” in your treated area(s). Over time, the areas will soften and “settle” leaving a natural look.
  • There is a small potential for the filler to not disperse evenly and form a small “nodule”. Typically a nodule cannot be seen, but you may be able to feel it. If this occurs and is bothersome, please call our office to book a follow up appointment. The nodule may be a lingering bruise; however, if a true nodule has formed, we may be able to evenly disperse the product.
