Dysport
Dysport Injectable Treatment
Dysport® is a neuromodulator injectable used to reduce the appearance of dynamic facial wrinkles by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles. By limiting muscle movement in specific areas, Dysport helps soften lines and creases caused by repeated facial expressions, allowing the skin to appear smoother and more refreshed.
Dysport treatments are offered at AestheticA Skin Health Center in Middleton and are performed by experienced aesthetic providers.
How Dysport Works
Dysport works by reducing muscle activity in areas where facial movement contributes to visible lines and wrinkles. When these muscles are relaxed, the overlying skin appears smoother while natural facial expression is maintained.
Dysport Results
Results typically begin to appear within several days of treatment, with continued improvement over the following weeks. Individual results and longevity may vary.
Areas Commonly Treated with Dysport
- Chin
- Forehead Lines
- Frown Lines
- Lines around the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Jawline
- Masseter
- Neck bands
- Nose (bunny lines)
- Upper Lip (lines & lip flip)
Dysport vs. Other Neuromodulators
Dysport, Botox®, and Letybo® are all neuromodulators used to soften dynamic wrinkles. Each product works in a similar way, and the choice of neuromodulator depends on the treatment area, desired outcome, and provider recommendation. A consultation allows your provider to determine whether Dysport is the most appropriate neuromodulator for your individual goals.

The most common side effect from a Dysport treatment is actually from the needle itself. As with all injections, there is a risk of bruising and redness. Other side effects include temporary headache, and some soreness or tenderness at the injection site. More severe side effects can include a rash or allergic reaction, and possibly some drooping of facial muscles near treated areas, usually as a result of “spreading”. For a full list of potential side effects, you should schedule a consultation with one of our medical aesthetics specialists and review an informed consent form.

Treatment Guidelines
Pre Treatment
- To avoid bruising it is best not to take any
- medications that cause blood thinning such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, or Vitamin E for 2 days prior and 2 days after treatment.
- Do not use Botox Cosmetic, Dysport or Letybo if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders. Please inform your clinician if you have any questions about this prior to the procedure.
- Sunburned skin is difficult to treat so avoid exposure to the sun.
- Avoid Waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated for 3 days prior to treatment.
- Inform your clinician if you have a history of Perioral Herpes to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.
- Always inform your clinician of all medications you may be taking as well as your medical history.
Post Treatment
- You may have bruises in the areas treated with Botox, Dysport or Letybo. This is normal.
- It will take up to two weeks for you to experience the full effect of the Botox Cosmetic, Dysport or Letybo treatment. Remain patient. It takes time for the muscles to lose strength and the lines to fade following Botox, Dysport or Letybo treatments.
- It is best to try to exercise your treated muscles for 1-2 hours after treatment (e.g. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows, or squinting). This helps to work Botox, Dysport or Letybo into your muscles. Although thought to help, it will NOT impact your treatment negatively if you forget to do this.
- Do NOT rub, massage or apply excessive pressure to the treated areas for 4 hours after your treatment. Do NOT practice Yoga or any type of strenuous exercise for 4 hours after treatment. Also, avoid facials or saunas for 4 hours after your treatment. This will minimize the risk of raising your blood pressure and therefore minimize the risk of temporary bruising. Feel free to shower and go about most other regular daily activities.
- Do NOT lie down for 4 hours after treatment. This is to avoid the risk of pressure on the treated areas (from your pillow) and to avoid the risk of having the area rubbed accidentally.
- Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few minutes to an hour. If you need to apply make-up within 4 hours after your treatment, only use a GENTLE touch to avoid rubbing the treated area.
Dysport is a temporary procedure and at first, you may find that your treatment results will last approximately 3 or 4 months. If you maintain your treatment appointments with the frequency recommended by your doctor, the duration of each treatment result may last longer than 4 months.
